UConn students have the opportunity to install ArcGIS on their personal computer.

ArcGIS Desktop, can be downloaded here: https://software.uconn.edu/software/arcgis-desktop-for-students.

ArcGIS Pro can be downloaded on the ArcGIS Online (AGOL) site. Instructions for downloading from the AGOL portal are here: https://s.uconn.edu/arcpro.

ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro are are different programs and you should check with your class or research group to figure out which version of ArcGIS you need.

There are several things you should know before using this software.

– Do not contact ESRI for software support. They will direct you to Rich Mrozinski. So, contact Rich Mrozinski (mrozinski@uconn.edu) if you have problems.

– ArcGIS is a Windows based program. It will not run in the MacOS, unless you are running some sort of Windows virtualization software (something like VirtualBox or VMWare Fusion or Parallels). If you do have a Mac, I recommend using ArcGIS on UConn AnyWare.

Updating your software:

ArcGIS Desktop 10.8.x (and newer): Run the Check for ArcGIS Desktop Updates utility from the Start > All Programs > ArcGIS menu.
